"Rīgas satiksme" launches new e-ticket for its 10th anniversary

"Rīgas satiksme" launches new e-ticket for its 10th anniversary
Starting from today, June 10, an e-ticket with a new design will be gradually introduced in all e ticket trade outlets. The new e-ticket presents an old yellow Ikarus, which carried passengers in 2003, and a new low-floor bus, which carries passengers nowadays. The new e-ticket is printed in 4 million copies.

This year Riga municipal company Rīgas satiksme celebrates its 10th anniversary. It was established on February 20, 2003, when  two Riga bus depots, Imanta and Tālava, merged together, providing basis for establishing a new company, Rīgas satiksme. Two years later the new company was joined by the Tram and Trolleybus Directorate, Riga Parking Lots and Riga City Council Moor Pool and became one of the largest municipal companies, which today employs a staff of more than 4000.

The design of the yellow e-ticket is changed twice a year. It represents a photo or a child’s drawing.

Despite the new design, the e-ticket keeps all its functions – it can be reloaded withtickets for a certain number of trips, tickets for a certain period of time and group tickets.

It shall be reminded that e-tickets aresold in more than 400 trade outlets, including  Rīgas satiksme ticket outlets (terminals, customer service centres) and ticket vending machines, as well as in Narvesen, Plus punkts, Preses apvienība, Latvia Post offices in Riga, Maxima supermarkets and at some Statoil fuel stations.
